Nashinoki Shrine, Kyoto Japan


Nashinoki Shrine is located just to the east of Kyoto Imperial Palace. The shrine was built in 1885 and enshrines Sanetsumu Sanjo (1802-1859) and his son Sanetomo, who were both imperial advisers in the late Edo Period.

Nashinoki shrine is known for the Somei spring in its grounds, one of the “Three pure springs of Kyoto” from former times which is still operating.
